ECG, the European Association of Vehicle Logistics, brings together the 86 leading European vehicle logistics companies. Its members operate in distribution, transportation, handling, preparation and processing of vehicles in Europe.
ECG was founded in 1997 as a non-profit making organisation, the aim of ECG being primarily to represent the interests of the sector vis-à-vis the EU institutions. ECG also facilitates collaboration between member companies and assists them in the development of areas such as Training, Public Relations, Quality and Procurement.
The President is Frits Mehrtens of Broekman Group in the Netherlands. The Vice-President, Costantino Baldissara of Grimaldi Group in Italy, and a Board of eight members support the President.
ECG has a permanent Office in Brussels that co-ordinates the objectives of the organisation. ECG members represent:

- 40 million vehicles handled/year
- 18,000 trucks owned/subcontracted
- 16,300 rail wagons
- 231 ships
- 28 barges
- 450 inland compounds
- 110 port compounds & terminals
The main objectives of ECG are:
• to represent the interests of the European vehicle logistics sector vis-à-vis the EU Institutions,
• to represent the interests of the European vehicle logistics sector vis-à-vis the other European associations active in the field of the automotive sector,
• to represent the interests of the European vehicle logistics sector vis-à-vis the automotive manufacturers and importers.
ECG fills a gap by representing an essential link in the automobile supply chain. Manufacturers, parts suppliers and dealers have been represented for a long time on the European level. The vehicle logistics sector, essential to the automobile industry, now has a European representation through the ECG. |
