Maritime & Ports

The Maritime & Ports Commission was created at the beginning of 2008. It is composed of ECG member companies active in the maritime sector, and it also aims to be a platform for discussion open to all actors of the sector (shipping lines, port operators, port authorities, OEMs, other associations – ECSA). The objective of the group is to focus on issues that are specific to this area of operation and jointly identify non-commercial activities that would benefit all ECG members and the industry as a consequence, in terms of efficiency.

Strategic Objectives:

1. Increase the participation to the Maritime Commission so that it becomes a fully representative body.

2. Improve the awareness of the specific problems of the Ro-Ro sector among the OEMs and the public authorities at all levels.

3. Co-ordinate the Maritime Commission’s lobbying and standard setting activities such as ECSA and other associations to make sure that the sector speaks with one voice.

Current projects: database of official tariffs of European ports, participation to EC on-line consultations, publication of weekly bunker price.

The Commission usually meets in Brussels every two months.
